Cleveland Indians Upcoming Outfielders’ Time Is Upon Us

Trades can make an impact on many player’s careers in an instant. Recent trades by the Cleveland Indians are no different.

Evaluating the Cleveland Indians organization a few weeks ago may have been filled with plenty of frustration. After multiple of trades these past few weeks, I am sure there is still frustration, but now it may be of a different kind. Who’s going to play along side Michael Brantley? With Nick Swisher, Michael Bourn, David Murphy, and Brandon Moss elsewhere, center field and right field are up for the taking long-term.

Brantley is still very young in his career but now he is the “old” veteran among the regular outfielders. Fans have excitement with the many talented outfielders in the minors who now have an open window to come up and contribute. Sure, they may have to wait till next season, but the chance they will have will be better than before, assuming they do not sign a free agent to fill the spot(s).

We have seen Tyler Holt and Abraham Almonte. Both of them will compete for a spot on the 25 man roster and likely will be playing in Cleveland next season, but there are others who look to be ready and should be given every shot.  I would not be surprised if James Ramsey and Tyler Naquin see at least some time playing in Cleveland, if they are not a regular in 2016.

Another player, Bradley Zimmer has done very well down in the minors and has continued to impress.  He likely will not be playing no higher than Triple-A Columbus by next season, but with the progress he has made this season, his track to the majors is coming. Perhaps a little faster than some may have expected.

I would cautiously say as of today, the building up of outfielders, waiting their turn may soon be over next season. However, with the Indians, you just never know.

The Indians have made multiple of trades, but there were players the team missed on. FoS writer Kris Grimes details five players who would have improved the team’s offense.

Cavs

There are many opinions on who is the best player in history. LeBron James is one of the best all time. Another player, Michael Jordan believes he can beat LBJ in his prime in 1 on 1.

J.R. Smith is still an option to return to the Cavs. However, there was a team that had interest in signing him. Which team was it?

Browns

In order to keep having one of the best offensive lines, the Browns must re-sign Alex Mack. They cannot afford to lose him to free agency. Success and progress are the keys.

The Browns have a pretty good defense and with another year in coach Pettine’s system, they should be even better. One weakness however is Barkevious Mingo. Dawg Pound Daily expresses why  he is worthy of being labeled a bust.

The Buckeye’s have talent all across the board on both sides of the ball. Is their back seven on defense the best and deepest ever under coach Urban Meyer? Scarlet and Game examines.
