Cleveland Browns: 2015 Mid-Preseason Review Part 1 QB’s and RB’s
Terrance West
Many believed that the Browns were going to give Terrance West every opportunity to seize the job as the main back in Cleveland. He possessed size, speed, and showed flashes of great ability in rushing for 2,000-plus yards at Division II college Towson.
At first, West took the starting job and ran away with it, rushing for over 100 years in his debut with the Browns and against the Steelers last year. After that though, West began to get what a lot of fans know as “happy feet” or “dancing” in the backfield. He became indecisive, and his ability to gain big yardage began to suffer. Eventually he was replaced by Crowell as the starter, and he began to sulk over his demise to the media and over social media.
Thus many expected West to come out strong and impress in 2015. He took to the gym in the off-season and sought to better himself. Could he reignite the belief that he and Crowell could be the next Mack and Byner?
Well, so far through two preseason games West has rushed for 52 yards on 15 carries. It’s far from elite, but his decisiveness has shown improvement.
For West it’s an uphill battle. You usually don’t see that from a guy drafted in the third round. However, Crowell’s ability and potential has put him in the backseat. As we move forward to the third preseason game, West has to carry on the momentum he picked up in the second preseason game against Buffalo. If he can continue to produce, coach Pettine and offensive coordinator John DiFillipo won’t be afraid to give him carries.
