Ohio State football is back and ready to defend its national championship, as the entire nation witnessed Labor Day night.
In Week 2, the Buckeyes are given the easier task of playing Hawaii in OSU’s home opener.
Don’t doubt it for a second, despite a lesser opponent, The Horshoe will be packed as the Buckeyes unveil their new national championship banner.
So why will the Buckeyes absolutely clobber Hawaii? Well, for one thing, Ohio State’s Ohio State, and Hawaii, is, well, Hawaii.
But that wouldn’t be much fun to write about….so here’s five reasons why the Buckeyes will trounce Hawaii.
1. The Suspensions Are Over
Of the Buckeyes’ recent suspensions, the return of defensive end Joey Bosa and wideout Jalin Marshall will be most noticeable.
Cincinnati native Sam Hubbard did a solid job filling in for Bosa, who had to stay back in Columbus dog-sitting Ezekiel Elliot’s K-9. So while Hubbard played well, Bosa is Bosa. He’s projected to be the No. 1 defensive player taken in this spring’s NFL Draft for a reason.
Remember, just ask Christian Hackenberg how effective Bosa can be…
Seeing Bosa sack Hackenberg without having to touch him never gets old.
With Marshall, the Buckeyes are getting a kid back who really started to figure out receiving duties last sseason, as well as at the team’s best punt returner.
Don’t forget, the Hokies scored one of their first-half touchdowns after Elliot muffed a punt return attempt. If Marshall was fielding the play, it probably never happens, and the Hokies never take a first-half lead.
Marshall caught 38 balls for 499 yards last season, to go along with six touchdowns. He averaged 11.8 yards per punt return.
