My Prediction:

To summarize, both teams have great defenses and lackluster passing games. With both of those things in mind, that means the game will be decided based on how each team runs the ball. While the Browns have shown improvement running the ball as the preseason progressed, it hasn’t been quite the running game that the Browns predicted they would have back in May.

One of the biggest emphases was having depth at running back. The Browns planned on having three backs ready to play against the Jets in Crowell, West and Johnson. Now only Crowell and Johnson remains on the roster and will be active Sunday.

The Browns have yet to prove to anyone that they can win games by primarily moving the ball on the ground. I would love to think that the Browns running attack would improve a bit more in game one and would start taking more of the bulk of the offensive snaps.

However, I can only go by what I have seen and so far I haven’t seen our running game play well enough to do that. The Jets draw ties with us in both overall defense and passing offenses, but they have a significant advantage in the running game and I believe that will make all of the difference on Sunday.

Browns – 13

Jets – 17
