Future Is Uncertain

Mike Pettine must feel his seat getting hotter. Why else would he go with Josh McCown? By staring the 13-year journeyman, he’s acknowledging that McCown gives the Browns the best chance to win. Sure, Pettine is setting the Browns back by not playing an improved Manziel, but who could blame him for looking out for No. 1?

He has one win in his last seven games. He needs to start building some capital with Jimmy Haslam sooner, because if he waits until later it will be too late. As for Manziel’s future… it’s hard to guess. Will Pettine still be around next year if the team struggles.

What about Farmer? If a new regime takes over, how will they feel about Johnny? There are so many variables to consider, but we know this. Johnny’s playing under a team friendly contract. First rounders no longer make the mega millions they used to, meaning his roster spot should be safe, unless he gets traded.

Chances are Browns fans will get Manziel at some point this season. McCown couldn’t even make it through one quarter without getting seriously hurt– and that’s the storyline that’s kind of plagued him his entire career.

Your guess is as good as mine with that one. This couldn’t have been handled in a more Browns way smh. I do think we will see Manziel again, but it won’t be for another three-four weeks.

By that time, any momentum and confidence he had will already be shattered. Starting and then sitting a young QB constantly can mess up their psyche. With McCowns injury history, it’s why I see him getting the start again soon.

The worst that can happen is he goes to Dallas or Houston and balls out. That would just be……… I don’t even wanna think about it.
