End of the Line: Ramblings…

It really hurts that the Browns don’t have 6’4 Dwayne Bowe for Redzone fades. Five-foot-10 receivers just don’t stand a chance on most jump balls…

I liked seeing TE Rob Housler on the field on the Browns final drive. His height (6-foot-5), athleticism, and pass catching ability gave the Browns an additional weapon and big target. I’d like to see more packages that use Housler…

If JR Smith’s hamstring injury proves to be troublesome, I hope the Cavs don’t rush him back. The last thing Smith needs is a lingering hamstring problem all season…

If Giovanni Urshela could become Anthony Rizzo or Kris Bryant that’d be great. To be honest, if anyone in the minors can develop that kind of power it would be great. The Indians need a young player of their caliber.

I’m not worried about LeBron’s back injection, it’s just a precautionary procedure. Better to get it done now rather than later in the season when playoff positioning is on the line…

Johnny Manziel may have sealed his fate with the Cleveland Browns late Friday Night. Getting pulled over for a disorderly domestic dispute may not typically be a last straw, but for Manziel it’s another last straw in a big pile of straws. He may not be worth the headlines…

In an off-Factory Lines topic, I’m in full support of Ohio State’s Blackout Night. It might not be “tradition” or involve the school’s traditional colors, but it’s 2015, and spectacles like this promote a different kind of energy in college football. I fully expect a Michigan/Championship game-like energy tonight.

The Week to Come…

The Cleveland Browns (2-3) play the Denver Broncos (5-0) on Sunday. All the hype is around whether Peyton Manning still has “it,” and can the Browns offense keep putting up gaudy numbers against the Broncos defense. I for one don’t have a good feeling about this one, and I see the Browns defense struggling against Manning’s ability to change plays on the fly. If Philip Rivers can dissect this defense, just imagine what Manning will be able to do!

So what’s the only advantage the Browns have?

It’s supposed to be a windy Sunday at the stadium, and with Manning’s recent trend of throwing floaters the defense might get a few turnovers.

That said, I think it’ll be the Broncos defense that’ll give Denver the advantage. I think McCown falls back to earth a bit, and ends up with a few INT’s, and the Browns struggle. It’s going to be a defensive battle, so if the Browns want to win, the defense will have to prove itself. Maybe the stop in OT against Baltimore will be the confidence builder that carries over to this game.

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue down the path to finishing off the Preseason. After LeBron’s injection I doubt he plays in the remainder of the preseason, and I see Love playing in both games as he tries to get himself game ready. The season is almost upon us, and the Cavaliers might lose every game this preseason, but they are getting healthier, and that’s the true goal of this preseason.
