Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns: Game Preview
The Browns In Week 16
The Browns took yet another loss this past Sunday against the Chiefs. Yet, the way they did so and the fight they exhibited throughout the game (despite this being a nearly pointless game for them) made it much more interesting.
For starters, we saw an extremely odd phenomenon of defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil’s defense shutting out a team for 30 minutes in the second half of the game.
While we cannot gloss over the fact that they gave up 17 points to the Chiefs to start off the game, the Browns did make adjustments and blanked the Chiefs in the second half. That was very impressive with all things considered.
Then there was the offense.

While Manziel had an abysmal day passing wise (13 completions, 32 attempts, 136 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 interception), he and running back Isaiah Crowell had a great day on the ground with a combined 196 yards on 27 rushing attempts.
It looked almost like the game plan the Browns had back in April of moving the ball primarily on the ground and playing good defense (only took 15 games to get there). Unfortunately, the Browns ran out of time in their last potential game-winning drive and were unable to come out with the victory.
Not only that but the game came at a price. Manziel came into the facility in the middle of the week and complained about having concussion symptoms. Backup quarterback Austin Davis will now start in his place.
While Sunday is by no means anyone’s Super Bowl, it would have been nice getting one more chance to look at what the team had in Manziel before going into what will likely be a crazy offseason. Unfortunately that will not be the case and the Browns will instead see what Davis can bring to the table at QB.
