Cleveland Browns: 10 Players Who Should Not Be Back In ’16
By Ryan Rosko
4. Barkevious Mingo
Mingo cannot play defensive end and his amount of playing time reduced this past season while playing as an outside linebacker. Mingo had 13 tackles in 2015 for the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns have been one of the worse drafting teams, especially in the early rounds. Mingo falls in that category, and although Mingo is not a bust (he is close to being labeled as one however), his level of production has been very disappointing. Had he been a mid round pick playing for Cleveland these past few seasons, maybe Mingo could have been seen as a player with potential who just needs to be put in the right position to succeed.
Whether Mingo is dropping in coverage, rushing the passer, or playing the run, he has struggled. In general, Mingo has had more issues in the passing game. His inability to drop his pad level getting around blockers as well as his lack of moves when rushing the passer also has contributed to his lack of success.
Cleveland should have traded Mingo prior to the trade deadline when they had the opportunity. It is unknown if he has any trade value now. Mingo is under contract for 2016 with a $675,000 base salary and a roster bonus of $1,959,137.

If Cleveland moves on from him, the team will have to either trade or release Mingo likely the latter.
