LeBron James: The Best Basketball Player In The NBA?

Leonard May Not Be The Best Now But Very Soon He Should Be

LeBron James is certainly one of the best players in the NBA, but he no longer deserves the title as the best in the NBA. In fact, he has not been the best for (at least ) a couple of seasons now.
James can play like the best any given night, but he does not do that on a regular basis. As mentioned earlier, James’ jump shot has not been what it once was, but his defense is actually even more an issue. His level of play while defending has dropped off to the point that he is no longer an elite defender.
James puts up overall very good numbers, but I am looking at the little things that he does that is not needed. James switches on defense or calls for one when the defense is fine, and does not take away the baseline to force more contested shots, among other situations.
There is no question Steph Curry is one of the best players in the NBA as well. He had the title of the best player last season and still does this season.
However, there are other players deserving of that title including Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant and San Antonio’s Kawai Leonard. The latter is a complete player. Leonard’s statistics continue to improve yearly, and he shut sdown any player he guards including James.
Once members of the big three in San Antonio retires, we will see exactly why Leonard is the best or is about to be. Should he be playing for another team now, we would have seen why much sooner.

In the meantime, Curry is seen as the best and that is fine, but very soon Leonard will at the very least share that honor.
