Colin Cowgill

Colin Cowgill, 29, brings pretty much nothing to the table for the Cleveland Indians outfield.

Harsh? Maybe, but he brings no upside whatsoever, and is nothing but a body to fill a spot on the 25-man roster until Brantley returns from injury.

He brings no upside whatsoever, and is nothing but a body to fill a spot on the 25-man roster until Brantley returns from injury.

In 55 games in 2015 with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Cowgill hit .188 with one home run and an anemic two runs batted in during his 69 at-bats with the club.

The journeymen outfielder has 677 career at bats and boasts a measly .236 batting average with 12 home runs and 57 runs batted in. Not exactly the type of talent Francona envisioned on his Opening Day Roster.

Unless Cowgill has some kind of career renaissance, he should be designated for assignment or sent to Triple-A Columbus when either Brantley or Chisenhall return.

Oh, how I wish Tribe general manager Mike Chernoff signed Austin Jackson, but dwelling in the past does nothing to change the present.
