6. What Happens If Francisco Lindor Slumps?

That is a scary thought. Lindor was the spark that lit a fire under the Cleveland Indians in July while making a strong case for A.L. Rookie of the Year. I am convinced he lost only because the Houston Astros and Carlos Correia made the playoffs while the Indians stayed at home.

If Lindor struggles, the Cleveland Indians have a ready-made replacement in Jose Ramirez. Before you freak out over Ramirez’s atrocious numbers as the starting shortstop last season (which prompted the Tribe to call up Lindor in the first place), he is still the next best option at the position in the entire system. Ramirez at least, can hold down the role until Lindor gets off the DL or gets his swing figured back out.

As for the success of the team, Lindor is too much of a key piece to the Cleveland Indians offense. He brings everything to the plate, including power and speed to stretch extra bases in key moments.

Lindor won’t hit a ton of home runs, but watch his swing. He drives the ball better than your typical shortstop and with almost as much pop as more prototypical power hitters.

Lindor is a legit five-tool player, making him invaluable in the lineup. Dropping him out of the lineup dramatically shortens the lineup and puts too much pressure on other players to produce above their weight class.

In short, if Lindor struggles, this offense better hope Kluber and company step up big time. Have questions of your own for parts two and three? Send them to us on Twitter or Facebook!
