Cleveland Cavaliers: A Villanova-like Dream
What Is The Warriors’ Route?
Meanwhile, the 73-9 Golden State Warriors found that their path in returning to the NBA Finals was not as easy as the regular season made it look. The Houston Rockets made a late-season surge to earn the eighth seed in the West, and were led by two 45 point performances from shooting guard James Harden.
Houston managed to give the Warriors a scare by winning two games early. However, the Warriors rebounded, and led by Draymond Green‘s triple-double in game six, beat the Rockets 4-2, and advanced to play the L.A. Clippers.
This was a series that the Clippers wanted in 2015. They thought that if they had played the Warriors, they would have won and gone to the NBA Finals. What L.A. ended up realizing is that perhaps they had bit off more than they could chew.

Led by guards Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry‘s 3-point shooting, the Warriors took down the Clippers in five games. The Clippers fought hard, but the Warriors’ defense and scoring were just too much. The Clippers could not get enough scoring from their bench.
Next up for the Warriors were the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. It was the matchup between the two top teams in the NBA, and it lived up to the hype.
The Spurs took the Warriors to game seven. Point guard Tony Parker, center Tim Duncan, and power forward LaMarcus Aldridge each gave the Warriors all they could handle.
However, the series came down to no one else other than Curry. The now two-time MVP lit up the Spurs in game seven, as he hit 11 three’s and dished out 11 assists. The Finals are set — Cavaliers versus Warriors, and they are off to Oracle Arena in Oakland for Game 1.
