Round 5. Barnidge 2.0?

. Tight End. East Carolina. Bryce Williams. 141. player. 53

The tight end position in this year’s draft is not that great but there are a couple of players who can contribute right away. One of those players is Bryce Williams.

Looking back at the teams Jackson has been affiliated with over the years, he has had tight ends who are pretty complete players. Most recent that has been with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The addition of Williams would be a great complement to Barnidge, as both players can catch passes as well as they block. Williams also could provide more matchup advantages for the Cleveland Browns because of his 6’6 height.

The one aspect of Williams’ game that is lacking, however, is experience at tight end. Prior to the 2015 season, Williams was a wide receiver.

However, various situations given his size has allowed him to play more in a hybrid role.  The Cleveland Browns offensive coaching staff can mold him into whichever role they need at tight end, given Williams’ potential with just one full year as a tight end.

E.J. Bibbs did not play much in 2015 and that should change this upcoming season, regardless of who else is added. Bibbs will continue to be brought along, and in the meantime, Williams can do well in the two tight end sets. If/when Bibbs gets to a position where he could play regularly, that just adds to the options for the offense given the tight ends’ versatility.
