The Browns Can Give Lynch Time To Develop

The fact that the Cleveland Browns traded away the No. 2 pick to the Philadelphia Eagles should tell you all you need to know about the team’s opinion of both Carson Wentz and Jared Goff. They didn’t love either of them.

As I previously mentioned, Todd McShay of ESPN had Paxton Lynch at the top of his list of quarterbacks for the majority of the college football season. He was ranked their for a reason.

Senior NFL Draft Analyst for CBS Sports Dane Brugler noted what many around the league believe about Lynch’s potential.

The emergence of Wentz after the Senior Bowl seemed to cool off the hype surrounding Lynch, but anyone that watched him play this year knows the guy can ball with the best of them.

More from Factory of Sadness

Sure he may be raw and take time to develop, but several performances during his 2015 campaign have me sold on his ability. His strong showing against SEC opponent Ole Miss was a treat to watch. Lynch completed 39-of-53 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

He has also improved every year under center during his time at Memphis. Perhaps the most glaring statistic being reducing his turnovers to four during the 2015 season, compared to 16 in 2014.

If time is what Lynch needs, the Browns can certainly afford to give him a learning curve. The addition of RG3 and return of Josh McCown will provide an excellent quarterback room for the young gunslinger, without the pressure of playing right away.
