4. Replace Delly And Moz

Two of the most noticeable things missing are a true rim protector along with a strong back up point guard.

In order for the Cavaliers to add a semi “big name” they are going to have to do some wheeling and dealing.

Even with the big television contract coming into play, the Cavaliers have a guy by the name of LeBron James they need to sign before they do anything. That only leaves a little bit of room to make roster additions.

Bringing back J.R. Smith is another priority the Cavaliers need to make.

That leaves Delly. As previously mentioned, Delly could command somewhere between $9-$10 million. He’s a restricted free agent, so the Cavs could match any offer. In some ways, bringing back Delly could be what the Cavs need. Despite his offensive struggles, his ability to guard the ball and cause havoc on defense is a huge upside.

Mo Williams announced that he is going to pick up his player option for the next season. That will add a little more depth at the point guard position.

However, the Canton Charge have a point guard named Quinn Cook who had an outstanding year. Cook averaged almost 20 points and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the field. Cook impressed the Cavs during the preseason.

Finding a rim protector will be tricky. With Tristan Thompson being the go-to-man when the Cavaliers need a big rebound offensively, or defensively, TT is the guy. After him, there isn’t much.

There is Mozgov on the bench but he hasn’t been the same player we got to know last year. Perhaps he never mentally recovered from his knee injury at the end of last season. He’ll likely be playing elsewhere next fall.

With the cap room the Cavaliers have, a trade might be in the works to bring in another rim protector. The 76ers are looking to shop one of their big guys whether that be Nerlens Noel or Jahlil Okafor but the price to pay for either of them could be huge.
