6. Acquire A 1st-Round Pick

The Cavs will have to wait a while to make someone’s dream become a reality in the NBA Draft because they have only one pick in 2016, and it doesn’t come until the second round.

This is why it is so important for the team to make a trade back into the first round to get some young talent.

The Cavaliers have traded away a lot of first-round selections the past few seasons in an effort to win now. The team gave up two No. 1’s for Timofey Mozgov, and another for Channing Frye this past season.

Top trade partners could be the Lakers with the second overall pick or even Boston who has three first-round picks.

Guys like Kevin Love or Timofey Mozgov could be instant impact players for both of these teams.

If the Cavaliers can strike a deal sending Kevin Love over to L.A. then they should take either Brandon Ingram from Duke or Buddy Hield from Oklahoma. Both could be immediate impact role players behind J.R. and LeBron.

One person the Cavaliers should skip over if he is still somehow there is Ben Simmons. Yes, Simmons can score the ball but he lacks having a consistent jump shot. Once Simmons misses a few of those jump shots it seems to hurt his confidence.

Even though some think Hield lacks size,  he can be very efficient from a two-spot. He possesses nice handles and the ability to knock down 3-pointers. Hield would be a good fit behind J.R.

Next: Why The Cavs Shouldn't Trade Kevin Love

If Ingram adds more muscle while working on his lateral quickness, the Cavs can ship Love to L.A. Watch out for this kid, he could be the next big thing.
