It Is Just A Matter Of Time Before McCown’s Time As A Brown Is Over

For Week 1, the Cleveland Browns starting quarterbacks will be listed as Robert Griffin III, Austin Davis, and Cody Kessler.

Josh McCown will get traded to the Dallas Cowboys about two minutes after it becomes clear how bleak Dallas’ quarterback situation is behind Tony Romo. The Cowboys have reached out to the Browns about McCown, but Cleveland, holding the leverage, has had no incentive to rush a trade.

By Sunday, it should be clear that Dallas needs help at quarterback should Romo go down—which is very likely by the way—and rookie QB Dak Prescott cannot be the answer. The Cowboys will meet whatever the Browns asking price is and McCown will have moved on.

Personally, I do not want to see McCown go. While he won just once as a starter in 2015, he is at least a capable veteran. Remember, it was McCown who broke the franchise’s record for passing yards in a game last season.

But the new front office would jump at chance to deal a player with no future as a member of the Cleveland Browns for draft picks. Sashi Brown and company are just waiting Dallas out.
