What Cleveland Browns players under-performed on Sunday? Check out in this weeks Dawg House!

Welcome to the Dawg House, a column spotlighting the worst players on the Cleveland Browns from the previous week’s game.

The Cleveland Browns are only one game in and I’m already disgusted and devastated. To top off a dismal Week 1 effort,  Robert Griffin III was placed on injured reserve. This means he’ll be out a minimum of eight weeks before he can return to action.

This is the second straight year that a Browns quarterback was lost in the first game. Josh McCown, who is now starting, was injured in 2015 against the New York Jets. He was hit so hard by now teammate DeMario Davis, that he fumbled and got helicoptered into the endzone.

Still, the all-time best first-game quarterback moment is Brandon Weeden getting caught under the American flag during the National Anthem.

You can’t get more Browns than that. You….just… you can’t.

Th defeat marked the12th straight opening day loss by the Browns. The last time they won the first game was a 20-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens in 2004. The QB then was Jeff Garcia.

Last Sunday, fans were treated to a terrible performance. Just when it looked like the Browns were making leaps offensively, the Philadelphia Eagles defense came in and stopped the momentum. It didn’t help that the offensive line had trouble blocking anybody for most of the game.

Words can’t describe how bad the defense is. It’s  a young unit, and a lot of player’s are still learning Ray Horton’s system. However, to tackle as poorly as they did, and to continually get beat by the same exact slant routes during every possession by Carson Wentz, Jordan Matthews and Zach Ertz is unacceptable.

It’s only one game. The Browns could come out this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens and run a smoother offense with McCown at the helm, but fans have seen this episode 17 times and they know how it ends.

While everybody struggled, and failed to make an impact during the game, these are the four players that are in this week’s Dawg House.
