There were no lack of mistakes during the Cleveland Brown Week 4 loss to the Washington Redskins.

It didn’t look good in the early going. The Browns were falling behind at a rapid rate.

Washington scored touchdowns on their first two possessions. Tight end Jordan Reed made both catches.

After Reed hauled in his second TD,It was looking like “OK here we go again!”

Then Terrelle Pryor stepped up again with some help from Cody Kessler and Isaiah Crowell. Something crazy happened. The game started trending in the Browns direction after Crowell willed himself into the end zone.

Then, Jamar Taylor‘s second interception in as many games led to a Pryor touchdown.

The 6-foot-5 receiver wasn’t worried about Josh Norman leading up to his game, and Pryor let his actions show why he harbored such confidence.

As for Kessler, he and Pryor made good combination. Kessler appeared to be becoming more comfortable with every snap.

Maybe Hue Jackson was correct with his famous”trust me” statement regarding Kessler following the draft. To me, Kessler is reminiscent of a more mobile Andy Dalton.

The teams exchanged field goals. Yes Cody Parkey made a 51-yard field goal.

Some of Jackson’s offensive play calls were outrageously bad. Especially the short passes on 3rd- and-long. You need to smart enough to pass the ball past the first down markers. He’s relying too much on YAC.s(yards after catch).

To open the third quarter the Browns drove for a go-ahead field goal by Parkey from 45-yards out.

That’s two in a row if your counting!

More from Factory of Sadness

Defensively, the pass rush, or lack thereof in this case, really cost the Browns. The secondary gave up too much cushion in the passing attack pass. There is also a ton of room for improvement on the run defense although it’s a bit better than last year. But that wouldn’t take much!

On the ensuing Browns drive fullback Malcom Johnson fumbled on the Redskins 9-yard line on his first carry of the year. Washington drove the field and scored the go ahead touchdown!

There seemed to be a lack of communications on the Browns defensive side of the ball.

Three straight turnovers on offense doomed this team to yet another defeat.

The constant mistakes, whether it be offensively or defensively, are killing this young team’s chances to win.

At the end, the Skins scored another touchdown off a bad pass by Kessler. The throw was behind Pryor and picked off by  Norman.

And as Cleveland frantically tried to make something happen, Kessler was still throwing 2 and 3-yard passes instead of going downfield.

You must question Jackson’s play calls. Perhaps his arm strength really is an issue. It certainly appeared that way in the fourth quarter.

There’s some other things to harp on, as well.

With Cameron Erving hurt where is Shon Coleman?

The more you see of this team you realize they have a long way to go! Too many mistakes and too much youth.

They haven’t learned how to win and they had better start! But I doubt it will be next week with Tom Brady coming back!!

Next: Hue Jackson Needs More Say Over The Roster

They need to find a way to stay healthy. No matter how good a player is, he’s no benefit to the team being injured.

Final score Redskins-31 Browns-20.
