LeBron James: Obvious Favorite For 2016 NBA MVP?
Numerous awards and achievements were accomplished last season by Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, but not everything was checked off the list. This season, LBJ will look to correct that.
LeBron James is entering the 2016-17 NBA season with his head held high as a defending World Champion. James showed off his outstanding skills last year and most importantly in the NBA Finals for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
James did everything right last year including averaging 25.3 ppg, 7.4 rpg, and 6.8 apg. This has become the norm for LeBron ever since he stepped foot in the NBA. James has accumulated three NBA MVP trophies and three NBA Championships.
The only thing he wasn’t able to accomplish was an MVP trophy. Instead, the trophy went to Golden State point guard Stephen Curry, who ended up leading his Warriors to the best record in NBA history. Curry won the trophy unanimously, but did he really deserve it?

Let’s take a trip down memory lane back to the 2016 NBA finals. James averaged an outstanding 28 ppg, 9.5 rpg, and 7.8 apg. He was the powerhouse behind the already dominant Cavaliers roster.
Curry was known during the season for shooting the long ball and doing it well. He is a decent point guard in the NBA, but not unanimous MVP worthy. LeBron’s game evolved around scoring, passing, rebounding, and defense. He has even been thought of as the second coach of his team, due to his play-calling abilities. Curry meanwhile didn’t show he was proficient in enough ways to be nominated, let alone win unanimously.
Now back to the Finals where Curry learned that when you live by the three, you die by the three. We all know the story by now though. The Warriors took a 3-1 lead, but blew it and thus the Cavaliers were crowned Champions.
Curry not only played poorly, but he is the main reason Golden State lost it at all. Curry’s shooting ability went out the window and he was forced to fire up shots that had no business leaving his hands. LeBron on the other hand, was leading his team through the playoffs and to one of the biggest Finals comebacks in NBA history.

LeBron is heading into the season with the weight of the world off his shoulders. He brought a trophy to Cleveland and fulfilled his promise. His goal now is to just keep extending his legacy and improve his game. James is also looking better than he has his whole career.
He is already an NBA superstar and this season James will show that he belongs in the category of NBA Legend. As LeBron James looks to get to that next level during the 2016-17 season, he will be joined by the same core players and head coach as last year.
Instead of forming some sort of “Super Team”, LeBron James is putting his trust in players such as point guard Kyrie Irving, power forward Kevin Love, and guard J.R. Smith. James has the weapons and the ability to be MVP this year and the chance to be a four-time NBA Champion.

He deserved the trophy last year, but was cheated out of it by a bandwagon of Curry supporters. Again, LeBron James will enter this season with a ring on his finger, a banner in the rafters, and a weight off his shoulders. However, he will leave this season with what rightfully belonged to him all along: an MVP Trophy.
