2. Cleveland Indians, 67 Seasons

One of the many sad things about Indians’ history is that the franchise was one of the more competitive teams of the 1950s, yet never even won a game in the World Series during the decade.

That era belonged to the Yankees.  When the Tribe did make it to the Series in 1954, their 111 regular season wins meant nothing to the Giants, who, behind Willie Mays,  swept away the city’s title hopes.

The 1950s are important because after the decade ended, the Indians became irrelevant. The franchise would have to wait over 40 years to make another postseason appearance.

World Series appearances in 1995 and 1997 didn’t produce championships. The 2007 team was a game away from eliminating the Red Sox in the ALCS. The 2013 postseason consisted of one measly Wild Card game.

Ever since the Cavs won the 2015-2016 NBA Finals, Cleveland fans are approaching the 2016 World Series with a different view, asking, “Why not us?”
