2016 World Series: 5 Longest World Series Droughts
3. Texas Rangers, 54 Seasons
Texas Rangers fans feel what Indians fans felt in the late 1990s. The Rangers were one out away from winning the World Series in 2011, and then David Freese went yard in extra innings of Game 6 to make Fall Classic history.
The loss was even more tragic considering it was the second straight World Series the Rangers lost. Texas dropped the 2010 Fall Classic to the Giants.
The 2011 team was known for its mashing, with a lineup featuring four players who hit 25 or more home runs. Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz each belted 32, while Nelson Cruz hit 29. Josh Hamilton crushed 25.
The Rangers drought includes two cities, as the franchise played as the Washington Senators from 1961-1971.
