Doug Fister, SP

Not a lot of reasons to get excited about Doug Fister, but remember, Tribe fans need to remember how the payroll works in Cleveland.

Fister didn’t have a ton of options going into the 2016 season, but considering that he was injured (flexor strain) in 2015, that shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.

Fister’s one year with the Astros didn’t go great, so chances are he’ll have to sign another “small” contract this offseason.

He made around $7 million with the Astros in 2016, and although he remained healthy, he wasn’t very good. His 4.64 ERA was the worst of his career.

The Indians like to buy lottery tickets during the offseason, and Fister could fall into that category. One might have to wonder how he’d perform after spending some time with pitching coach Mickey Callaway.

Fister pitched decently in August. During baseball’s “Dog Days,” Fister went 3-3 with a 3.15 ERA. He walked eight batters and struck out 25 in 34 1/3 innings. He fell of the rails in September, walking 11 and allowing six homers in 23 innings, but at least his August breathes some positivity.

Remember, the Indians need depth in the rotation. They don’t need Fister to be a No. 1 or 2 starter. He may be someone worth taking a look at.
