Cincinnati Injuries

Marvin Lewis and company come to Cleveland at 4-7-1. The Bengals were supposed to be AFC North contenders, but have instead slowed by injuries and poor play.

Stud wide receiver A.J. Green is out with a hamstring injury. Running Back Giovanni Bernard tore his ACL.

Right about now, you’re probably thinking about how the Bengals torched the Browns for 271 yards on the ground during their first meeting. Jeremy Hill had 168 of those yards, and he’s still playing.

But the Browns have gotten stronger in the box lately. Danny Shelton is one of the defense’s most improved players.

Pro Football Focus ranks Shelton as the 13th best defensive tackle in the NFL. After a rough rookie season, Shelton is proving worthy of his first-round pick status.

Additionally, defensive lineman Stephen Paea is also quietly having a decent season. Jamie Collins was still with New England when these teams first met.

The Browns  defense won’t make anyone forget the ’85 Bears, or the ’02 Browns for that matter,  but with Shelton clogging the middle of the line, some improved play from Emmanuel Ogbah, and a secondary led by Briean Boddy-Calhoun and Joe Haden, the Browns may be good enough in Week 13 to eek out a win, especially with Cincinnati lacking a couple superstar playmakers.
