The national title game looks like Alabama’s to lose. Heading into the SEC title game, Alabama hadn’t surrendered a touchdown since October 22nd. In fact, the unit had given up all of six field goals going into the SEC title game, a contest they won 54-16.
Jonathan Allen, a defensive lineman, has positioned himself to be the No.1 pick during the 2017 NFL Draft. Most pundits will tell you he won’t get past two.
Offensively, quarterback Jalen Hurts became the first true freshman to be named the SEC’s Offensive Player of the Year. He’s dynamic and downright scary when he has room to run, rushing for 841 yards and 12 scores.
Running the ball? Who does Nick Saban want to give it to? Damien Harris, Bo Scarborough, Joshua Jacobs. They’re all scary. Receivers ArDarius Stewart and Calvin Ridley combined for over 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Tight end O.J. Howard is a man beast of a tight end. Up front, the Tide have a center in Bradley Bozeman who’s allowed one pressure in 300 snaps heading into Week 10. As a unit, the group is better than good at run blocking, but is also one of the best in the country in pass blocking.
So I’ve built Alabama into the greatest team of all time…just don’t tell Deshaun Watson that.
Because of Watson, I expect the Tigers to play the Crimson Tide for the title. He’s the biggest superstar in the playoff, and it’s because of Watson that Clemson made that 2016 final into a shootout before losing, 45-40.
“When Deshaun’s playing like that, who can stop him?” Allen said after the game. “Making incredible passes, smart decisions. I can remember only two bad plays in the game…He was just plain unworldly at that time.”
Clemson will give Alabama another game, thanks again to Watson, but Alabama will win easier this time around, 45-31.
