Since Texas A&M EDGE Myles Garrett is the best player available in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns’ fanbase should be optimistic that he’s the pick right?

The Cleveland Browns could end up drafting a quarterback first overall, especially if they fall for one during the Senior Bowl or the 2017 NFL Combine. However, with so many other needs elsewhere, drafting a quarterback that early would be a wasted pick.

Cleveland needs more talent on their roster, regardless of the position. The best way to do that is to kick their draft class off with selecting Myles Garrett. Assuming the Browns understand that analytics and reaching doesn’t always work and instead drafting the top player in the draft, they would be off to a good start.

At the end of the day, it would be a huge mistake for the Browns to not take Garrett. There are a number of scenarios that could play out, many not involving Garrett as a member of the Browns.

Still, if I had to bet, Cleveland ends up (maybe) drafting a quarterback later in the draft and ends does end up with Garrett. After all, who would block for the quarterback and catch passes? The cupboard is bare on offense for the Browns.

Garrett’s potential, along with his skill set and athleticism is too much for the Browns to not take him. The thought of him being added to a younger core of defensive players is very enticing. As great as that is, there is no guarantee yet that the Browns are leaning that way. In fact, we won’t know for sure until just a few days prior to the 2017 NFL Draft.

The impending changes with Cleveland’s coaching staff does not help matters either. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported assistant head coach-offense Pep Hamilton could leave the team to join the University of Michigan.

Meanwhile, Sporting News’ Alex Marvez reported that the Browns will be changing their defensive coordinator. Ray Horton will be out and Gregg Williams could replace him. Hamilton has a history with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, but still losing/replacing coaches have to stop on the Browns’ end.

Despite the constant changes, how does Cleveland not go with Garrett first? There are a few other semi-intriguing names at the top of the draft and more could be added. Yet, the value Garrett is, is not someone Cleveland could expect to get at 12 or later!

With five of the first 65 picks currently, it is not surprising to already see so many scenarios play out. Even so, don’t ignore history. Cleveland has traded back in the past and I would expect them to do it again. Hopefully that is not is the case though and for once they draft the best players that are on the board.

Projections are going to change in the coming months. There will be changes many people will disagree with, but still getting your Browns Garrett jerseys orders ready now would be a good idea!
