If Ohio State wants to secure a NCAA Tournament berth, they will have to step up their game ASAP or else it will be too late.

Over the last few seasons, the Ohio State Men’s Basketball team has been pretty inconsistent. In the case of the 2016-17 season, they have been so inconsistent that they may miss out on the NCAA Tournament all together.

The Buckeyes really haven’t lived anywhere close to expectations since Aaron Craft was manning the point guard position. This year’s team is 13-8 overall with a 3-5 Big Ten record.

In terms of conference standings, Ohio State is tied for the seventh best record. As a whole, the Buckeyes are currently sitting in 11th place in their conference. That is not going to cut it.

Frustration does not even begin to describe the feeling fans have expressed watching them. As soon as they seem to get it going, their poorly play comes back and runs its course for a while.

Currently, ESPN’s Joe Lombardi does not even have Ohio State in his NCAA Tournament bracket. The Buckeyes are also not included in his lists of first four teams out or next four out!

Meanwhile, CBS.com’s Jerry Palm has Ohio State in but as a bubble team. In Palm’s most recent bracket, the Buckeyes are a 12th seed in the Midwest bracket versus Miami (FL) in a matchup of last four teams in.

The Hurricanes averages 72.6 points/game. They also are an underperforming crew with a 3-4 ACC conference record in addition to an overall 13-6 record.

Like on other websites, here at Factory of Sadness, we want our teams to achieve greatness. The thing that is hard however, is when not enough execution is done to accomplish such a goal and nothing changes.

FoS’ Ric McElroy, aka “The Voice of the Fan” has stated how it is, not just with the Buckeyes, but with every team we cover. That said, he, along with myself, and I am confident many of you are very disappointed by how Ohio State has not lived up to the expectations associated with such a university.

Unless the Buckeyes’ level of play gets better quick, their best bet for the NCAA Tournament is as a last four team in. Should that not happen, they will be off to the NIT. Regardless of where Ohio State ends up, something has to change because sometimes they don’t even look worthy of any postseason berth.
