5 Longest World Series Droughts: Cleveland Indians Now Own Longest Streak

Texas Rangers, 56 seasons; No World Championship
For the Texas Rangers, things are a little different. The Rangers have never raised the Commissioner’s Trophy.
Becoming a franchise in 1961, the Rangers almost tasted gold back in 2011 and 2012.
In 2011 the T-shirts were ready to bust out of the box and the Champagne was ready to flow.
And then David Freese went legend.
Down 3 games to 2 and facing elimation as his team trailed the Rangers 7-5, the Cardinals batter came to plate in the bottom of the ninth with two on and two out. He tripled off the wall tie the game.
In the bottom of the 11th, Freese finished the job, blasting a 420-foot homer to force a Game 7.
Game 7 found Freese hitting a first-inning double, which scored two runs, giving him 21 RBIs in the postseason, an MLB record.
The St. Louis Cardinals sent the Rangers home again with their second straight World Series loss. In 2010 the Rangers fell short, as they lost to the Giants in the World Series.
In 2016, the Rangers had the best record in the American League. Bad thing for the Rangers though is that when the playoffs start, regular season records don’t amount to much. Texas had a short stint in the playoffs before they got thumped by the Toronto Blue Jays.
