Top 5 Players To Play For The Cleveland Cavaliers In Franchise History
By Joseph Jones
4. Larry Nance
Drafted originally by the Phoenix Suns in 1981 out of Clemson, the 6-foot-10 Larry Nance arrived in Cleveland in 1988 via trade.
Nance should go down as one of the Cavs’ all-time players because he was like Cleveland’s version of Dominque Wilkins, except a lot taller.
One of Nance’s famous dunks was the two basketball jam at the 1984 NBA All-Star weekend in Denver. He won the first ever dunk contest over Wilkins and Julius “Dr. J” Erving.
Nance is eighth in Cavaliers history with 3,561 rebounds in seven seasons wearing the blue and orange. He is third all-time with 1,087 blocks.
The Nance family is a very athletic family as Larry’s son, Larry Nance Jr. who attended Wyoming and was drafted by the Lakers in 2015. Nance Jr. has the same flare for jams as his father, as the younger Nance has had more than a few dunks catch fire on social media.
Nance’s daughter Casey played for the University of Dayton woman’s basketball team
Nance was a three time all star (1985,1989,1993), NBA all defensive first team (1989), Two Time ALL NBA defensive second team (1992,1993), NBA slam dunk champion (1984) and his number is retired by the Cavaliers (22).
