The chances the Browns will able to pick between 2 of the top 3 QB prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft with the 12th pick is increasing.

The Browns need a quarterback. No one in this class is really worth the No. 1 pick–so they say.

Cleveland would be crazy to pass up Myles Garrett, the freakish edge rusher out of Texas A&M who spent the combine leaping out of Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. He’s the consensus No.1 pick. The Browns could’ve turned their draft card selecting Garrett yesterday, and everyone would’ve been cool with it.

But Garrett’s addition still leaves a problem plaguing the Browns since 1999 unanswered.

Who’s the quarterback?

And then there’s this: Can you imagine Mitch Trubiksy going No. 2 to San Francisco and becoming a success story? We all want the Mentor native to succeed, but knowing the Browns passed him up be a dagger through the heart of the Dawg Pound.

Even if “Mr. Biscuit” doesn’t go second, some other team is sure to snatch him up, right? Chicago needs a quarterback at No. 3. The Jets could answer their need at the position with the sixth pick.

But prepare yourself for the notion that two of the top three quarterbacks (Trubisky, DeShone Kizer and Deshaun Watson) could be available for the Browns at No. 12.

It may be becoming more likely than you think.

New 49ers coach, Kyle Shanahan, may reunite with Brian Hoyer on the west coast for a season. The two had success in Cleveland when Shanahan was the Browns’ offensive coordinator. If Shanny makes a play for Hoyer, there’s a rumor that he may be building a bridge until next season, when he get his hands on Kirk Cousins.

In Chicago, the Bears are looking at Tampa Bay free agent Mike Glennon. Coach John Fox is in his third season, and he probably needs to be competitive. Hoyer is still an option to return, but the Bears seem to hot on the trail of Glennon, who NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said could get a contract worth $14-$15 per year.

Rapsheet added that this wouldn’t affect the Bears draft plans, but with that kind of financial commitment for Glennon, and a coach who needs to win, there’s no way Chicago would be able to afford using the third pick on a guy who’s going to be reviewing plays on those blue Microsoft Surfaces.

With the Bills restricting Tyrod Taylor‘s contract, that means the Jets are the only team who could be considered highly likely to draft a quarterback before No. 12.

New York used a second-round pick on Christian Hackenberg in 2016. Bryce Petty was a fourth-round selection in 2015. If the Jets take a quarterback at No. 6, it tells you everything you need to know about these draft choices.

And if New York actually passes on a quarterback? ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi said it best.

"A non-quarterback here would mean they are tanking for USC’s Sam Darnold next year."

The Browns will pick 12th with a real possibility that two of the top three quarterbacks in this draft will be available.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller released his post-combine big board, and Trubisky is rated as the 12th best player in the draft. Kizer is 17th, and Watson is 29th.

Free agency will ultimately give the greatest indicator of which players will be available on draft day, April 29. There’s always the chance the Browns pull of a major trade (Jimmy Garappolo) and the question of drafting a quarterback in the first round becomes moot.
