A recent Larry Sanders tweet could mean the five-year NBA veteran is ready to resume his NBA career, and has a team willing to take him on.

Larry Sanders opened up the eyes of every Cavs fan with a Twtter account when he tweeted that he was need the  goggles so many NBA fans became so accustomed to see him in before walked away from the game two seasons ago.

Or, it just may mean Sanders lost a contact.

The joys of Twitter. Let’s assume the former for sake of blog post…

The second after Andrew Bogut went down with a broken leg in his Cavaliers debut, Cleveland followers went nuts trying to figure out which player could replace Bogut on the roster.

The Cavs worked out Sanders shortly before the Mavericks bought Bogut out after the NBA traded deadline, Feb 23.  The news to come out of the Sanders workout was the Sanders did better than some thought he would.

But that didn’t help him get a deal.

Bogut was signed as the team’s rim protector and Sanders remained seamless.

Logically, Sanders may not be ready for a return. He’s worked out for playoff teams such as the Cavs and the Boston Celtics, and left without a contract.

There was also that rumor started by Sanders’ agent that his client was getting ready to sign with a playoff team. Then it never happened. That was a month ago.

Perhaps NBA teams received the news of Sanders’ arrest last summer before the public. Who knows what implications the arrest has on teams signing Sanders. If the big man isn’t going to be able to help you come June, what’s the point of giving him money in March, right?

Adding Bogut over Sanders was the right decision. The Aussie could’ve been called on in spots this postseason to really give the Cavs a leg up defensively. His value would’ve been off the charts should the Cavs reach the Finals and Golden State isn’t there waiting. With Kevin Durant injured, it’s more of a possibility than you might think.

Sanders is certainly the most intriguing option remaining. What is he capable of doing at 28, having missed almost two full seasons of NBA basketball. Can he be the shot blocker who swatted 2.8 shots per game in 2012-2013?
