Patriots coach Bill Belichick is avoiding ESPN Cleveland scribe Tony Grossi and Jimmy Garoppolo trade champion like the plague.

The eyes of Browns Town shift to the Arizona Biltmore for any signs of a possible trade between Cleveland and Patriots coach Bill Belichick for New England backup Jimmy Garoppolo

Belichick knows Grossi well from the scribe’s days on the beat. Grossi covered the hoody before he was a genius during his days coaching the Browns from 1991-1995.

Is there anything to make of Belichick avoiding Grossi like the plague and going out of his way to avoid the Cleveland reporter?

Grossi spoke about his interaction with Belichick on ESPN Cleveland Monday morning. Grossi was talking to friend Geoff Hobson, who works for the Cincinnati Bengals and writes for Bengals.com.

From Grossi’s point of view, Belichick was going to come say hello to Hobson–somone he’s friendly with–until he caught sight of Grossi, waiting to pounce, via ESPN Cleveland Radio  (2:27).

"“The very latest is I just saw Bill and he grunted at me, literally. He is here….I was first talking to Geoff Hobson…Geoff has a pretty good relationship right now with Belichick. And Belichick came from behind me and was walking through one of the halls and he stopped to talk to Hobson, and as soon as he saw me he turned around and walked the other way. He wouldn’t even acknowledge me.”"

Grossi’s mission at the meetings is to get a definitive answer from Patriots owner Robert Kraft, or Belichick, about whether or not Jimmy G is available for trade.

Grossi also mentioned that he ran into ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, who said he didn’t understand why the Cleveland media continues to discuss possibilities that the Browns will land Garoppolo.

In response to Schefter, Grossi said he wanted to hear it from Kraft or Belichick.

It doesn’t look like he’ll get the chance.

Belichick was scheduled to leave the meetings to continue scouting for the draft.

Kraft was around, but deflected questions regarding Jimmy G, basically stating that trades were Bill’s department.

So why can’t Belichick be in Grossi’s presence long enough for the question to be answered? Perhaps he’s bored and likes to keep people guessing.

People in Cleveland will continue to do that, until they find out for sure, who the Browns quarterback of the future will be. It looks like we’ll have to wait until draft day to find out.
