Cleveland Indians 2017: When Is The First Home Series Of The Season?

It is almost time for the Cleveland Indians’ regular season! After losing in the World Series, the offseason is over and soon we will see them attempt to get back to representing the American League.
In under a week, MLB will have their regular season started. Coming off of an exciting, 2016 season, the Cleveland Indians are expected to accomplish even bigger goals in 2017!
Sure, it was disappointing they did not win it all last season. However, Cleveland is back and better than ever with key additions like 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion. Not to mention a healthy left fielder Michael Brantley is a nice additional bonus.
The regular season cannot come soon enough. As we look forward to when the games start, a couple of dates of importance stands out immediately.
According to the Indians’ website, those dates on their schedule are Monday, April 3rd and Tuesday, April 11th. April 3rd is Cleveland’s opening game of the regular season. Unfortunately, it is on the road versus the Texas Rangers in a three-game series.

The Indians will remain on the road in a three-game series versus the Arizona Diamondbacks before playing for the first time in Progressive Field on the 11th. Fittingly, that date’s opponent is against AL Central’s Chicago White Sox in a three-game series followed by a three-game series versus the Detroit Tigers!
Although it is going to be frustrating for fans to have to wait for the Tribe’s home opener, at least baseball will have been back! Besides, the wait will be worth it since those six games are versus division rivals. Going 4-2, 5-1, or even 6-0 in those games will really help separate themselves from the rest of the division from the start!
With that in mind, based off of how the schedule stacks up, Texas is going to be the first to lose to Cleveland. That is great and all, but what will be even more satisfying is their first home win of 2017, which will be from Chicago.
Confidence is riding high amongst Indians fans for good reasons. There is no reason to expect Cleveland not being in first or at worst second after the first few weeks of the season. After all, they are the reigning AL Champs!
Get out your Indians’ hats and jerseys, and other gear to showcase wherever you are if you have not already! Cleveland will playing in the World Series again this season, but before we get there, let’s enjoy the journey they will take to get there!
