Cleveland Browns: Five Non-QB Options For The 12th Overall Pick
By Ryan Rosko

The Browns’ draft classes don’t often include an Ohio State Buckeye. In 2017 though, that could change. If it is not S Malik Hooker, perhaps Gareon Conley could be the drafted Buckeye. For this slide, the option is Hooker.

Sure, the chances of Hooker being at 12 are not great, but they are not slim either. Once LSU’s Jamal Adams is selected, Hooker will soon follow. Despite Hooker’s relatively recent surgeries, his fall down the draft board may actually be non-existent.
The Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Chargers at third and seventh overall respectively, could easily go with Hooker. Should they look elsewhere, the next logical team would be Cleveland. I do not expect Hooker to be on the board when the 12th pick comes around.
That said, should Cleveland be in position to draft Hooker, one of two things will have to happen. The first is simply not willing to wait and trade up for him.
The other is hope that a wide receiver or two, along with one or more quarterbacks are selected in the top 10.
Should Cleveland draft Hooker, a critical need is filled. He is one of the best prospects in this year’s draft and there is a lot to like about Hooker’s game.
According to sports-reference.com, Hooker racked up seven interceptions in 2016. The only possible main concern with him is that he only played in double digits games once, last season. If Hooker became a Brown, hopefully his 2016 campaign was not a fluke.
