Cleveland Browns’ likely first overall pick Myles Garrett had a recent interview that should sell any remaining doubters as we wait for round one.

It is not guaranteed yet, but unless something comes up at the last second, the Cleveland Browns are going to select Texas A&M EDGE Myles Garrett first overall. Soon enough we will officially hear the announcement that Cleveland has selected him.

Until then, the hype and excitement surrounding Garrett continues to increase.

For nearly all Browns fans, selecting Garrett first is a no-brainer. The very small percentage that has a different opinion could be persuaded enough to believe Garrett is the best possible pick and that there is no looking back.

In an interview with ESPN Senior Writer Sam Alipour, Garrett discussed his goals and his upcoming future in the NFL. The story will also appear in ESPN The Magazine’s April 24th draft issue.

Had there been an elite quarterback in this class that was miles ahead of others, there would have been a real debate as to who the first pick should be. Garrett is a game-changing, franchise-altering player. He can and will significantly impact Cleveland in many ways.

Until everyone can officially link Garrett and the Browns together (hopefully 10 plus years), statements like the ones mentioned in this ESPN interview is as good as it is going to get. That is okay too because it won’t be long before people will see him in a Cleveland uniform.

Of the questions and answers listed, a couple did stand out.

"Has Browns coach Hue Jackson given you any indication as to which way they’re leaning? He had dinner with me. He wasn’t guaranteeing anything, but he said he’d be happy to take me."

Of course Jackson is not going to say yes, he is drafting him then. That said, it is just part of the game because this time of year nothing but PR-type of statements (most of the time) are given.

So why is Garrett the top pick? He answered that too.

"All right, imagine I’m Hue at that dinner. My franchise hasn’t had a good quarterback since Bernie Kosar. Why should I take you first overall?Because I’ll be a difference maker from day one. And I’m not gonna be in any trouble. I’m just gonna make plays and bring a good atmosphere to your organization. And I’m gonna start winning and winning now. And because if you don’t draft me No. 1, I will punish your team for the next 10 to 12 years. I’ll knock your QB out of the game every time we play you, and I’ll have to kick the hell out of No. 1, whoever it is."

If Garrett’s response to this question did not sell you on him (if you weren’t already sold), nothing will! What Garrett said was a fact. Either Cleveland can select him and as a result, success will follow. Or, Garrett can make life miserable for the Browns.

It is clear despite no official announcement what Cleveland is going to do at one. Luckily, there is not a prospect at Garrett’s level that will cause them to be tempted enough to look elsewhere.

Unless Cleveland were to select someone other than Garrett, shocking everyone, there is no way they can mess up the first selection.
