Ohio State Football: Mike Weber proposed bet with top RBs
By Ryan Rosko

A top offensive player for the 2017 Ohio State Buckeyes team has big expectations and is not shy to express such feeling.
The running back class that was just drafted a few days is very talented. This upcoming season’s class is as talented, possibly more (with both the underclassmen and upperclassmen). One player leading the way at the position, although is very young, is Ohio State‘s Mike Weber.
Weber should be relied upon more this season than he was in the 2016. With an expected increase with his workload, the sky is the limit for the numbers Weber could rack up.
For good reasons Weber should be optimistic of his play and why wouldn’t he? Yes, there is some time before football comes back, but that did not stop Weber from offering a friendly bet with two of the top running backs in the country.
Via Weber’s Twitter account, the Buckeye proposed a dinner bet with LSU running back Derrius Guice and Penn State running back Saquon Barkley.
All three running backs are atop the list at their position. Assuming Barkley continues to improve, he could be a top five pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Each of them makes countless plays resulting in so many highlights.

Of the three, Barkley is the most established. However, any of the three could win their bet. Guice will be the guy for the whole season as he replaces former back and Jacksonville Jaguars’ top pick Leonard Fournette.
Meanwhile, Weber should be involved in more plays with RB/WR Curtis Samuel now in the NFL too. To think too that Weber is just a sophomore! He is just reaching his potential. If his next big jump collegiately happens this fall, Guice and Barkley could end up playing for those dinners.
According to sports-reference.com, Weber rushed for 1,096 yards on 182 attempts with a six yards/carry average and nine touchdowns. As far as his competition goes, both Barkley and Guice put up bigger stats.
Barkley accumulated 1,496 yards on 272 attempts with 18 touchdowns, while Guice gained 1,387 yards on 183 attempts, along with 15 touchdowns. Those three players competing this fall will be quite entertaining.
Yet, both Penn State’s and LSU’s offenses relies around their running back. Ohio State’s on the other hand, does not strictly focus just on one player.
Even when former running back Ezekiel Elliott was in college, he was not the lone focus on offense. Elliott was a key, but there were other good options the Buckeyes used too.

If you were looking for another reason to look forward to watching Ohio State football and college football in general, you found it! My prediction: Barkley wins, Weber comes close, and Guice is in the ballpark, but no cigar.
