The Cleveland Cavaliers have dominated on the court, but there is a concern away from it.

Barring multiple injuries, the Cleveland Cavaliers will earn the right to play in their third consecutive NBA final. Sure, there is not just one person that has positioned Cleveland to achieving their success.

However, general manager David Griffin’s influence cannot, has not, and should not be ignored. Had the Cavaliers still let one of their previous general managers call the shots, the franchise very likely would not have made it to the past two NBA finals.

More achievements are expected by Cleveland this postseason and during the upcoming future. Yet, such future achievements may be limited if no deal with Griffin can be reached.

It may seem all is well and good on the court, which it is as they’ve swept their opponents thus far.

On the other hand, what to come with Griffin, an executive any team would love to have is very uncertain. So much so that there is now news that Griffin’s work preference is in question.

According to Orlando’s News 6‘s Sports Director David Pingalore, Griffin is not happy in Cleveland.

"Griffin is not making it his priority to stay in Cleveland because of his disdain and the unworkable conditions that the Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has created."

The Orlando Magic have been in the running for Griffin’s leadership this offseason for a while now. Assuming Cleveland does not promote him and offer a raise, he could very well bolt for Florida.

Could this news be even more of an issue than those in Cleveland and Ohio in general really believe? To an extent, the case can be made. After all, owner Dan Gilbert has known, along with many fans that Griffin’s contract will expire soon. The renewal of a contract is not surprising. What is though, is that Gilbert has yet to offer any extension to Griffin.

The Magic have been looking to make a splash as the organization looks to turn things around. What better way to do that than hire Griffin? Now, I, along with you would hate to see that for obvious reasons. Griffin is the best at what he does in his field.

If Griffin really does prefer to work elsewhere because of the environment, I would rather preferring hearing him say he is not renewing his contract. Now, that may be a legitimate reason , but there would need to be more than just that to be even remotely comfortable with that approach.

Griffin built the Cavaliers into something everyone else in the NBA is looking to defeat. Should there be problems away from the court, Griffin and Gilbert, etc., needs to correct them now.

Moving on from the Cavs does not guarantee similar success down the road. Thus, staying in Cleveland is Griffin’s best option to win championships. Hopefully soon, we find out that he does indeed stay in NE Ohio.
