CLEVELAND, OH – APRIL 12: Yandy Diaz
CLEVELAND, OH – APRIL 12: Yandy Diaz /

4. Yandy Diaz, Columbus Clippers

Indians fans got to see a glimpse of what could be in Yandy Diaz. With Jason Kipnis starting the season on the DL, Diaz got the starting role at third base.

Well, here the Indians are again. Kipnis is on the DL and the Indians need a third baseman. While Giovanny Urshela is having no problem holding down the fort at the hot corner, he is struggling at the plate.

In a measly Urshela is only hitting .189. Despite the subpar average, the Tribe is still finding ways to win ball games. And win big. During the Indians 9 game winning streak, they are averaging a little over 7 runs a game and outscoring their opponents 66-26.

So as the old saying goes, “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.” That may be true however, Diaz is ready for the next level.

Diaz has an average of .332, he has driven in 23 RBI’s and hit the ball out of the park 4 times.

While Diaz was with the Indians at the beginning  of the year it wasn’t all that pretty, but it was his first stretch. Indians fans can cut the guy some slack. Diaz went down to Columbus and found his bat.

While Kipnis is still on the DL, maybe it is time for Diaz and Urshela to switch.
