3. Jabrill Peppers still a backup

Justin Currie got promoted to the No. 1 strong safety following Ibraheim Campbell‘s injury last week.

Jabrill had really been getting reps with the No. 1 team, according to Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com, but he’s still backing up Derek Kindred at free safety.

Cleveland.com Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot

"“Jabrill, has come on so strong, not just in the last week, but particularly yesterday he had such a good practice, I think they are going to want to see him against some first teamers and see what he can do, and he’s such a dynamic player and he’s a first-round pick…so it’s time for Jabrill Peppers to get in their with first team, to get in there with the starters and play, so I’m not buying Justin Currie, first team safety.”"

Cabot may have a point, but Currie is certainly not a player to overlook. A former practice squad player, Currie’s had an impressive week stepping up for Campbell. Jackson likes his coverage and around-the-ball abilities.
