The Cleveland Browns extended their preseason winning streak but there were a number of issues that needs addressed.

Brock Osweiler proved why the Houston Texans traded him for basically nothing. We all know it was a salary dump. Yet, even with Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson doing his quarterback whispering act, that things haven’t changed.

Osweiler has a throwing problem. There is a lot of motion for him to throw.

In addition, with DeShone Kizer in the game the offensive line still had problems! There were holding penalties, two of which were called on Kevin Zeitler, the most expensive guard in the NFL.

Kizer needs to learn as he only had two years at Notre Dame and was benched during his last year. Thus, just illustrating the point that the offense needs to work on a lot.

On the other hand, Gregg Williams’ defense looked ready for the season opener. The group as a whole displayed lots of hustle and for once knew their assignments. Joe Schobert looked like he wants the middle linebacker position to be his own. He was all over the field.

They must stay healthy as the defense is young and solidifying their depth via backups will continue to be a priority. Cleveland’s defense lacks experience in that regard.

Myles Garrett got his first sack while New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. had to leave in the first half with an ankle strain. At halftime, the Browns led 7-3 thanks to a Kizer one yard plunge.

Cleveland maintained their momentum as the second half saw a successful field goal by Zane Gonzalez, who is battling Cody Parker for the PK job.

The Giants took the kickoff and with Geno Smith at the helm and against mostly Browns’ second stringers led them to a field goal even with a forth and five conversion on that series.

Cody Kessler took over just before the fourth quarter ended. Unfortunately, on the first play more penalties from the Browns offensive line occurred.

In typical Smith fashion he throws an interception to Brian Boddy-Calhoun. The Browns though gave it back to New York via a mishandled handoff by Kessler. Despite that, Cleveland got it right back thanks to a Giants’ fumble.

Believe it or not, we actually saw Kevin Hogan come in on the last series but the Browns had to punt. Whether we see more of Hogan remains to be seen.

Cleveland ended up with the win 10-6 and since the Giants failed to score a touchdown, they have yet to score a touchdown in their first two preseason games.

Next: What if Kizer plays well but Rd.1 QB is drafted?

At the end of the night the defense was the star of the game! Williams has then hustling and playing with with reckless abandon! Although an overall mixed bag, there is still plenty of work that can and should be improved upon.
