The Cleveland Browns have a build block in DeShone Kizer at quarterback but attention is being shifted elsewhere.

DeShone Kizer has a lot to work with which is beneficial if you’re the Cleveland Browns. He displayed what he could do on Sunday but at the same time also displayed rookie tendencies. Regardless of the negatives, Cleveland is in a good spot with their QB1.

One would assume that the focus leading up to yet another divisional game would be on what Kizer should expect to see and/or improve upon. Yes, that is a typical topic to discuss. However, there seems to be more intrigue with the backup quarterback situation and that needs to stop!

Cleveland may have finally found someone they can rely on at quarterback. Time will tell of course, but from the sample size we have seen from Kizer thus far, how do you not think optimistically?

On Thursday, via 92. 3 The Fan‘s Keith Britton, head coach Hue Jackson did not name who will be the Browns’ backup QB versus the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Kevin Hogan was the backup last week and Cody Kessler was QB3. Since Kessler was third though, there was no chance of him playing since he was also on the inactive list.

I understand that Jackson has to talk about the QB situation. On the other hand, does it really matter? Neither would be definite backups on other rosters. Both players haven’t done much in the NFL too.

There are many reasons why Kizer and not Hogan nor Kessler is starting beginning with overall talent.

Rather than flip-flopping back and forth, why not just stick with either Hogan and Kessler? It is not as if either are difference makers. There is good news with all this Jackson/Hogan/Kessler intrigue and that is it deflects some attention away from Kizer.

The unfortunate news is that this topic won’t go away any time soon. It will once Kizer proves that he is the answer or another QB in the future shows that he is the guy.

Next: What would be Kizer's walk-out song?

So, with an unknown timeline, fans will just have live with the fact that this is a popular topic, but hopefully it gets put on the back-burner sooner rather than later.
