The Cleveland Indians 22-game win streak came to end, and the glorious run will be something we’ll never again see in our lifetime.

During the 22-game winning streak numerous Indians players did their job and helped secure victories. The pitching staff stayed dominant and helped us keep a lead late in games. The rotation won 19 games and had a combined ERA of 1.58. The strike-to-walk ratio was a whopping 200:37. T

But as memorable–and critical as the pitching was, the key element during this whole thing was the bats.

The stats the batters on this team put up just can’t be ignored.. The Indians run differential was an incredible 105! Cleveland outcored their opponents 142-37. In fact the Indians hit more home runs than the opposing teams scored in runs alone! The Indians hit an amazing 41 moon shots, with seven coming from the bat from the new face of baseball, Francisco Lindor.

The Indians dominated during this whole streak by scoring early and never taking their foot off the gas. The tribe only trailed seven of 181 innings played. The dominant hitting of Lindor, Jose Ramirez, and Carlos Santana really fueled the victories.

And Ramirez. Wow. We’ve run out superlatives to describe how special a player the Dominican native’s become.

Lindor hit a total of seven home runs during the streak, and Ramirez hit eight. The two delivered true MVP performances, including during win No. 22, against the Royals.

Lindor hit a double off the wall to tie the game. Ramirez would come up in the next inning and stretch a single to a double. His hustle eventually lead to him scoring the winning run on a Jay Bruce single.

You cant forget about the bullpen in all of this as well. The strong depth of the pen helped the Tribe keep their lead throughout many of the games. Players like Nick Goody, Tyler Olsen, Bryan Shaw, and Cody Allen contributed to quite a few victories/saves. Cody Allen had a huge role as the closer, Allen didnt allow a single run during the streak. He hasn’t allowed an earned run since Aug. 12.

The Indians streak may of ended at 22, but the history and the true bond created during it were priceless.

Cleveland looks even more ready for the postseason after being tested so often. Dont forget that the Indians went on this amazing streak without the help of all-stars Michael Brantley, Jason Kipnis, and Andrew Miller.
