Five players the Cleveland Cavaliers should considering targeting during the 2018 NBA Draft, considering they’ll probably be picking high with Brooklyn’s lottery pick.

The Cleveland Cavaliers own Brooklyn’s lottery pick next summer, and it could be a top 5 selection.  The organization acquired the selection in exchange for Kyrie Irving, during the blockbuster trade that sent the owner of the Cavs’ biggest shot in franchise history to the Celtics.

Unless the Nets surprise the entire basketball world, chances are they’re in for a rough season, which means a lot of ping pong balls come lottery time. .

College basketball is a long way from getting started. We know who the prospects are and who’s expected to dazzle as Dick Vitale’s Diaper Dandies.

With the Cavaliers owning Brooklyn’s lottery pick, there’s extra incentives for Wine & Gold Country to pay attention to the top college hoopsters around the country, because there’s a very good chance Cleveland will be selecting a player in the top five.

Next summer will be a huge one for the Cavs, with the spotlight centered around LeBron James decision to either remain in Cleveland, or take his talents elsewhere, again.

If LeBron leaves, the rebuild will officially commence, and the team will look very different tipping off the 2019 campaign. The players they take in the 2018 NBA Draft, and in particularly, with Brooklyn’s assumed high pick, will set the course of the Cavs future for years to come, for better, or for worse.

James staying with the Cavaliers is a possibility, and it would be interesting to see a young potential superstar run with James during the last few elite seasons No. 23 has to offer.

So if the Nets are bad, and the Cavs catch a lucky bounce with a top-five pick, here’s who Cleveland should be targeting in the NBA Draft.
