Luka Doncic, SG, Real Madrid

With the premium being placed on wing players, you’ll be hearing a lot about shooting guard Luka Doncic heading into draft day come summer time.

The 18-year-old Slovenian is 6-foot-8, 228 pounds, and if the draft were held today, there’s a real chance he would go No. 1 overall, which is something no European player has ever done.

I know what your thinking. Drafting any European player will freak a fan base out, because you don’t know what you’re getting. For one Dirk Nowitzki, there’s a ton of Darko Milicics.

But Doncic is a basketball prodigy, just like LeBron James was growing up in Akron.

As an 8-year-old, Doncic was invited to play with his kids his own age, in the 1999 generation at Olimpija Basketball School. It took a whole 16 minutes for coaches to move Doncic up to play older kids from the 1996 generation, according to ESPN.com.

From there, he’s taken Europe by storm, and is regarded as the best overseas prospect since former Nets star Drazen Petrovic.

Remember, he’s still kid, but as a 17-year old he was the only Euroleague player to average at least 15 points, eight boards and eight assisters per 40 minutes, according to ESPN.com.
