Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 players to target with Nets pick in 2018 NBA Draft
Marvin Bagley, PF, Duke
ESPN.com listed Marvin Bagley as its No. 1 recruit in the 2017 NBA Draft class DraftExpress.com projected the 6-foot-11, 210-pound power forward to be the No. 2 pick in its 2017 NBA mock draft, with Porter going No. 1overall.
There’s a lot to like about Bagley. Duh. Coach K wants him at Duke, and that’s where Bagley will play his likely only college season.
In his ESPN scouting report, there’s concern that Bagley gets bored with the game, and staying assertive while possessing a teachable attitude will be critical to his growth as a player.
Skill wise, he already possess great awareness in the post. Near the rim, he can go to his hook shot. He’s really good from the high post, where he can take defenders off the dribble or hit a jumper. He’s also capable of filling it in from arc, according to ESPN.com (subscription required).
Enough offense, Bagley also appears to be the real deal on defense. He can block shots and grab offensive rebounds.
One ESPN analyst summed Bagley up best:
"His size, length and versatility is the way the NBA game is being played."
If he’s not averaging a double-double during the college season, it will come as a very big surprise.
He needs to add strength, but he is definitely someone the Cavs can build around, especially if James departs via free agency.
