Ohio State football: 5 reasons the Buckeyes will destroy UNLV
By Alec Hartman
Another week for Ohio State football, and the Buckeyes are poised to demolish UNLV. Here’s why a blowout will happen.
Two very unfamiliar foes will meet for the first time as the Ohio State Buckeyes and the UNLV Rebels have never played against one another.
As with most non-conference match ups, this makes for relative uncertainty for both sides. The Rebels hail from the Mountain West conference.
The Big Ten and the Mountain West conferences differ in more than a few ways. The major one being the Big Ten’s annual college football playoff resume.
Anyway, the Bucks do have some recent experience against the Mountain West. The Bucks trampled the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors 38-0 in 2015.
What is for certain is the Bucks will once again be heavily favored on their home turf. This will be another opportunity for the Bucks to blow off some steam and demonstrate their strengths in front of the home crowd.
This match up against the Rebels is an easy win on paper but that doesn’t mean the Bucks should take it for granted. As we’ve seen over the past two seasons, there is a lot of work to be done to improve this team.
The Bucks should continue to play their game but they also need to remember tougher opponents are on the horizon. Taking the time to prepare now while they have a clean opportunity would be wise. Hint: Barrett needs to work on passing down field and hitting open receivers instead of running it just because he can against inferior opponents.
There are probably at least a hundred reasons why the Buckeyes ‘should’ handily win this game. More importantly, there are a few select reasons why they ‘will’ win this game. Expect the Buckeyes to impress on Saturday as the Rebels become another stepping stone on the road to success.
