Cleveland Browns: 10 step method to fixing the team
DURING 2017 SEASON
1. Immediately trade for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry
With Corey Coleman dealing with a broken hand, the Browns wide receiving corp is in shambles. Kenny Britt (just wait on him) appears disinterested. Rashard Higgins cannot stop committing offensive pass interference penalties. Everyone else has dealt with terrible drops.
Outside of a consistent run game, what is the one thing that helps a rookie quarterback the most? A reliable, short-to-intermediate wide receiver…aka Landry.
The Dolphins receiver is a target hog. Landry has caught no fewer than 84 passes in a season and has back-to-back +1,000-yard-seasons.

Miami just gave fellow receiver Kenny Stills a huge deal, and DeVante Parker has begun his expected breakout. There were rumors back in August that Miami would look to deal Landry and even though the Dolphins denied the reports, the Browns would be wise to reach out.
With a plethora of draft picks, the Browns could offer Miami a second-round pick (via Philadelphia) and a fourth-round pick (via Carolina). Whether that is enough compensation is unknown. However, if Parker continues to develop into a legitimate WR1 in Miami, Landry’s price should go down.
2. Cut Kenny Britt and create extensive playing time for Seth DeValve, David Njoku, Jordan Leslie and Kasen Williams
Britt’s struggles have been well-documented, and if his cap hit was not so high ($10.5M), he likely would have been cut already. Even with that cap hit, if the Browns had not cut quarterback Brock Osweiler, Britt would have been out of Cleveland by now.
However, with over $63M in cap space, the Browns can afford to rid themselves of the failed free agent signing. By removing Britt from the equation, this can allow the Browns to give extended playing time to a few weapons who have flashed so far.
Tight end Seth DeValve has been arguably the best receiving option for Kizer so far and Njoku needs more snaps as well. Wide receiver Jordan Leslie, who was brought back after failing to survive final cuts, made a sensational one-handed grab against the Colts and was arguably the team’s best receiver in the preseason.
Kasen Williams, who was claimed off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks, had a great preseason as well and needs to see more action. These four young playmakers need more playing time. They are the unknowns. The Browns need to see what they have in their young talent to evaluate for the future.
