Cleveland Browns: 5 replacements for Sashi Brown not named Peyton Manning
Nick Caserio, Director of player personnel, Patriots
Nick Caserio is another local product who would be worth elevating as the Browns’ top football man.
Some might be hesitant about reaching onto the Belichick tree, because it’s failed the Browns miserably before. Just asked Romeo Crennell and Eric Mangini.
But those were coaches. Now we’re talking front office.
And if there’s once thing Caserio should be able to do, it’s build a credible, respected front office, which puts the right people in place for the organization to succeed.
Isn’t that the whole Patriot way? Yeah, they have Tom Brady, but Brady alone doesn’t win Super Bowls. Don’t forget, this is a team that just completed the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history and their best receiver was a guy who played quarterback at Kent State.
Caserio is 41, so he should be hungry to make his mark outside far from the branches of the Belichick tree. Plus, the Brady gravy train isn’t going to last forever, although sometimes, it seems like it will.
Caserio works for a smart organization and he has to realize–if offered the job–of what an advantageious spot the Browns would be in moving forward. They own five picks in the first two rounds next season. Plus, DeShone Kizer isn’t the worst quarterback the Browns have had since returning in 1999, and when healthy, Myles Garrett is every bit as advertised.
The biggest selling point is providing stability to the front office and espcially football operations.
