Paul DePodesta is likely next

The Athletic’s Zac Jackson described Paul Depodesta’s exit as a given, even though the sabermetrics guru wasn’t axed on the same day as Sashi Brown.

In fact, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot wrote DePodesta is expected to stay for the time being.

Believe what Mary Kay wrote, but also, don’t forget about about what Zac stated.

There’s going to be a new football boss at some point, and there’s no telling whether DePodesta is going to be in the cards or not.

Every team relies on analytics in some way. It’d be foolish not to. Other teams just didn’t get in as deep as the Browns.

So, is there a place for DePodesta within the organization? Sure. But ultimately, will new front office executives want to keep him around, and on the flip side, will DePodesta want to stay?

I remember readying about how DePodesta needed Browns’ ownership to go all in on analytics for him to leave the world of baseball.

They did, but not they’re taking a rocket ship back to earth with no time to spare. Don’t count on DePodesta sticking around for long, in my opinion.
