10 moves the Cleveland Browns must make during the 2018 offseason
8. Make coaching changes
If Hue Jackson is back, and Jimmy Haslam has said he would be, it’s fair to critique one of his top lieutenants, Gregg Williams.
While Cleveland’s run defense improved, the Browns performance in the red zone was downright deplorable.
The Browns took a big hit losing Jamie Collins halfway through the season, but undisciplined play, egregious offsides penalties and Jabrill Peppers severely miscast as an “Angel” defender have a lot of fans scratching their head over Williams’ decisions.
As far as offense goes, Jimmy Haslam has a point when it comes to Hue Jackson. Hue was one of the hottest assistants available when the Browns were looking for a coach. He also didn’t forget how to call plays.
With that said, Jackson needs an offensive coordinator. The OC would still be calling from Jackson’s playbook, but with an OC in place, Jackson can instead focus on the in-game decisions while also brining along the next Browns’ quarterback of the future.
Some fans may want to ax Chris Tabor, who’s in charge of Special Teams, but before you do, remember, the guy was pretty good when Josh Cribbs was on his special teams unit.
Special teams may not be on the field all of the time, but the unit needs players too.
With that said, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Tabor fired as a casualty of 0-16.
